Forms a clump of upright narrow green leaves and spiky flowers in summer. Naturally found in open environments and coastal situations, particularly on sandy soils or near brackish water. Will tolerate almost any environment, so is suitable for mixed borders, rivers, and banks. Hardy to frost, drought, wind and salt drift.
