A tree fern common in the New Zealand bush in south-central North Island. Grows a slender black ‘trunk’ with a large upright fronds growing from the top that die off as the fern grows taller. Requires a shady, moist, and sheltered position protected from strong afternoon sun and wind. Low maintenance.
