Tanged juvenile form turns into an attractive small tree with large leaves at maturity. Attractive marbled foliage. Bears white flowers followed by purple fruit, which ripen to black from March-May. Does best on a moist semi-shaded site. Intolerant of drought and wind; frost tender when young.
