Since 2022, Southern Woods are proud suppliers of the Ellepot Propagation System, providing you the best quality seedlings and plants. The patented Ellepot technology, originating from Denmark, replaces traditional plastic bags and pots with degradable paper that promotes strong, healthy root systems and decomposes in the soil.

Over the last 24 months, we’ve been transitioning most of our 1L and revegetation grade plants to paper Ellepots.
We have two sizes of Ellepot, 50mm diameter (0.2L – Pictured Below Right), and 80mm diameter (0.9L – Below Left & Centre). They come in trays of 32 & 15 respectively, we wash and sterilize these before re-using them again & again.
Root air-pruning is a core benefit of the Ellepot system. Ellepot paper is permeable to the roots and the Air Trays are designed to provide the correct support and air space for each plug. The process of root air pruning prevents root binding or deformation and encourages the development of secondary and lateral root growth, resulting in a larger and more fibrous root system.
The Ellepot paper does not need to be removed at transplanting and eliminates the need to forcibly remove the young plant from a solid plastic bag or pot, which drastically reduces transplant shock when planting Ellepots.
